Call Out for a Dance Artist

Protein is looking for a dance artist who has a keen interest in delivering dance theatre projects with people who have crossed borders, such as migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, immigrants, or transient people.

The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary team of artists led by Luca Silvestrini, Protein’s Artistic Director.

Applicants must be experienced in delivering community participation projects or dance in educational settings and should be strong performers that can demonstrate proficiency in teaching and devising choreography.

We welcome applicants from a diverse range of cultural and dance backgrounds and particularly encourage artists who are Black, Asian or ethnically diverse to apply. Applicants must be based in and eligible to work in the U.K.

This work seeks to engage and empower using our performance-led collaborative approach inspired by the participants’ lives and experiences. Through ensemble work, storytelling and creative exercises participants develop team-working skills and greater confidence, enabling them to better engage in their communities. Storytelling and workshops led in English enhance their linguistic skills, whilst learning stagecraft develops people’s ability to express themselves in a variety of ways. It is part of Protein’s inclusion programme, Real Life Real Dance.

Deadline to apply: 5pm, Monday 22 November 2021
