Big Dance Class

Year of Production

2006

At 12.30 on 22 July 2006, Protein’s Big Dance Class, a twelve minute dance routine, was simultaneously performed by 8,962 people in 40 different out-door and indoor locations around the United Kingdom.

This mass participatory project was as an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the World’s Biggest Dance Class at multiple locations. The simultaneity was achieved by having the four different music tracks played by BBC local radios throughout the country. London’s main location was the Millenium Bridge, where hundreds of participants gathered and were led by Big Dance Class London Captain and Protein’s artist Natasha Gilmore.
