Reimagining Protein

We are excited to present a wonderful new film by Alice Underwood, documenting the passion and dedication of all those taking part in Protein 21 Reimagine!

Reimagine sees dance groups of all ages, across the UK, create new works inspired by Protein’s repertoire in celebration of our 21st anniversary year.

When the virus struck, groups came to a halt, some part way through their creative process, without an opportunity to complete their reimaginations and to share what they’d achieved with an audience.

We stepped in and created this film showcasing some of the work-in-progress, protecting and celebrating what has happened so far.

The film features East London Dance and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance’s dance groups for elders; Magpie Dance, a dance group for learning disabled people; students from Plumstead Manor School, Dynamix Dance, a street-dance youth group in Royal Borough of Greenwich.

“We are very excited that this has become a national programme, and we are working with such a wide-range of dancers. It’s been really fascinating, emotional and beautiful to be able to look back at the history of Protein and select work to propel and instigate more work. This is the real essence of this project. More than looking back, we are looking forward, we are looking at the future and that’s really stimulating.”

Enjoy, share and watch this space as we will return to reimagine very soon!
