Thank you:
Refugee Week 2023
There and Here – A Celebration
Thank you to the fantastic artists, participants, organisations and guests who joined us to celebrate Refugee Week 2023 at Woolwich Works on Saturday 24th June.
The day began with refreshments, arts and crafts, sharing messages of hope and an information stall run by the Greenwich Borough of Sanctuary. We then gathered together to enjoy special performances including excerpts from Protein’s Border Tales and community projects featuring members of Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants and Creating Ground with students from London Contemporary Dance School culminating with everyone joining in to dance together. Afterwards, we shared lunch accompanied by live music and a fashion show. Leader of Greenwich Council, Anthony Okereke, closed the day with a speech of support and solidarity, celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees, migrants and people seeking sanctuary.
“Love each other, help each other, learn, listen and smile”
“We are all human, we all deserve to be respected and valued – welcome everyone”
“Life is a gift and love will find a way”
