The Last Sleep

Year of Production

1998

Featuring a white fridge and set to excerpts of Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, in The Last Sleep the life of a couple slips into a bizarre staging of old stories and peculiar rites about birth and death. The childish experience of the intangible turns their life into a mystification and denial of mortality and decay – while time is running on.

The Last Sleep premiered at Jacksons Lane, London on 19th August 1998 as part of Mosaics, the seventh annual season of performance at the cutting edge of dance theatre presented by Sadler’s Wells.

Running time approx. 25 mins
